Kyle Courtright, founder of Courtright Design, didn't always have it easy. This brand designer started with just $ 50.

Courtright had to stay on a strict budget to make his business dreams come true and stopped at McDonald's for cheap hookups with his wife while growing his graphic design business. At one point he was working in his car outside his home office just to get an internet connection.

During that time, he worked in low-paying 9-5 jobs while burning the midnight oil to gain knowledge of SEO and website design. He did all of this to promote his graphic design company, which initially felt more like a "hobby".

Just three years later, he quit his 9-5 job to work as a full-time freelancer. Courtright has worked with Fortune 500 companies including Toyota, Chipotle, Lowe's, Walmart and NVIDIA. Other clients he has worked with include the USA Olympics, the Detroit Lions, the Sacramento Kings, the NBA, NFL, DR Horton, the American Cancer Society, and the National Parkinson Society.

Courtright carefully creates beautiful design tools that are intentionally matched to each client's brand, and the results speak for themselves. His minimalistic, clear and innovative design style impresses his customers who keep coming back.

"Visual communication has to show excellence, be timeless and sound unforgettable," says Courtright. "If you deliver an excellent end product and treat people with love and respect, you have a customer for life."

His skills are extensive, which makes him a valuable contact for his customers in all areas of design. From logo design to web design / landing pages, email template design, digital and printed ads, sales sheets, case studies, PPT decks, infographics, illustrations, product design and large print, he has unmistakably been the Jack all-round designer.

“It's a responsibility that I don't take lightly. What a privilege to visually bring brands to life. To arouse emotions and win the hearts and minds of my customers' audiences? That's the kind of focused work I like to be a part of, "says Courtright.

Not only has Courtright had incredible opportunities in the world of brand identity design, he's also a writer That Ultimate guide to logo design and is the founder of Logo Wave Awards International.

When I asked him about his thoughts on marketing yourself as an entrepreneur, he said, “Marketing is not (just) closing a sale. Instead, it's about building a solid, unbreakable bond and relationship with your customers. Show them that you really care about them and how you can help them achieve their goals. "

Courtright provided some practical advice to help entrepreneurs take their business to the next level:

  1. Hopping on a phone call (or a face-to-face meeting) works wonders for building strong relationships. By picking up the phone instead of emailing himself, his business grew 309% overnight.

  2. Never underestimate the value of empathy. Find ways to understand and resonate with your customers on a deeper, more meaningful level. It's about connection, and we need to make sure it's lasting.

  3. To be different is to be yourself. Nobody can pretend, say and think like you do. A differentiated brand is one that looks at the competition rather than persevering. Create a brand that matches your beliefs and your customers – and your bottom line – will thank you.
